The Magic of Brentwood Bay
On the last evening of a recent road trip in lovely British Columbia, I found myself in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island. It was the end of a long day driving south from Tofino and I needed a welcome place to lay my head before a long day of flying back to Toronto. What I found was a peaceful, restful haven that made me wish I was not yet going home! I shot the photo above from the balcony of my room at picturesque Brentwood Bay Resort. Despite being hundreds of miles away from Ontario, this view reminded me of the landscapes favoured by The Group of Seven. Perhaps I was longing for home?
I have to say, The Brentwood Bay Resort knows how to pamper you. My room had floor-to-ceiling cathedral windows looking out over the bay. I had a fireplace, candles, and some wonderful local music to ease my road-weary spirit. Beside my bed was a CD from local artist Brad Prevedoros from nearby Galiano Island. The CD was called Pacific Sky and it matched its surroundings to a T! I have since downloaded the album from ITunes and listen to it when I need to be transported back to the West Coast. I also appreciated the note left on my bed as a reminder to sleep peacefully. It reads: “May sleep envelop you as a bed sheet floating gently down, tickling your skin and removing every worry. Reminding you to consider only the moment.” (Jeb Dickerson).
What a wonderful way to end a beautiful trip on Canada’s magnificent west coast! I will be back. In the meantime, I have started to upload all the snaps from my trip. You can find them on my photo website – enjoy!
